Ungeared C frame power press, built in Ludhiana An ungeared C frame power press has its flywheel mounted directly on the crankshaft. The motor drives the flywheel through V-belts, and when the clutch engages, the flywheel turns the crank with no gears in between. The result is a fast, simple press for blanking, piercing and shallow forming.

Birson Forgings builds ungeared C frame presses from 20 Tons to 100 tonnes at our works in Sahnewal, Ludhiana.

We have built power presses since 1985.Ungeared or geared: which one you need Ungeared Geared Drive Flywheel directly on the crankshaft Flywheel on a back shaft, driving the crank through a pinion and gear Speed Higher strokes per minute Lower strokes per minute Stroke Shorter Longer Working energy per stroke Lower Higher Best for Blanking, piercing, notching, shallow bending Deep drawing, heavy forming, thicker material Upkeep Fewer moving parts Gears to lubricate and inspect Cost at the same tonnage Lower Higher Choose ungeared when the punch does its work in the last few millimetres of the stroke, as it does in cutting.

Choose geared when the punch must push through a long working distance, as it does in drawing.

How we build it Part Construction Frame All-welded steel plate, C-frame, open on three sides Crankshaft Alloy steel Bushes Gunmetal or bronze Ram and table Graded cast iron Flywheel Cast iron, mounted on the crankshaft Clutch Rolling key as standard; pneumatic clutch and brake to order Lubrication Centralised hand pump, Servo System 68 oilAt the same rated tonnage, our frames are heavier than most presses built in Ludhiana.

On a C frame this matters more than on any other design, because the open throat lets the frame spring under load. A frame that springs opens the die clearance on every stroke, and that shows up as burrs and short die life.
